I had an absolutely magical and life-changing experience at this yoga ashram, where I completed my 200-hour Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training in December 2025. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed into a genuine family environment filled with warmth, care, and deep respect for the yogic path.
The teachers are truly exceptional and incredibly knowledgeable. Vishal ji guided the Ashtanga practice with discipline, clarity, and inspiration. Raj ji's Hatha classes were grounding and powerful. Pranayama with Gaurav ji, supported by his wonderful assistant Monika ji, was deeply enriching and taught with great care, awareness, and heart. Swami ji's meditation sessions were profoundly calming and transformative. Gaurav ji's philosophy classes brought ancient yogic wisdom to life in a way that was clear, meaningful, and inspiring. Pradeep ji's anatomy classes were detailed, practical, and essential for understanding the body and safe practice.
The ashram runs beautifully thanks to the amazing staff. A heartfelt thank you to Nikel ji, Shiva, and all the other team members who work tirelessly behind the scenes. Your kindness, smiles, and support made daily life so comfortable and joyful.
The food deserves a very special mention: nourishing, delicious, and prepared with so much love. Meals are made by Gaurav's family, who founded and run this ashram as a true family business, and you can truly feel that love in every bite. Arpit and his wife Eliza also work at the ashram and contribute greatly to the welcoming, family-like atmosphere.
This ashram is much more than a place to study yoga. It is a space for growth, healing, connection, and transformation. I am deeply grateful for the teachers, staff, and everyone who made this experience so special. I will carry these teachings and memories with me forever and wholeheartedly recommend this ashram to anyone seeking an authentic, heart-centered, and traditional yoga journey. 🙏✨
I arrived in Rishikesh knowing I wanted to continue my yoga training, but I couldn't find a school that truly felt right. Then, by chance, I walked into Sri Yoga Ashram to ask for information. The moment I stepped inside, the energy of the place made me think, "This is where I want to stay." And I couldn't have made a better choice.
Being tucked away from the main road and surrounded by the forest and the river already makes the whole experience even more special.
I loved the warm family atmosphere, and the food that somehow gets better every single day. THE FOOD IS AMAIZING. What I really appreciated is the care they put into keeping the groups small so every student receives proper attention. Two families live in the ashram, and this made us feel like part of them as well.
The philosophy class with Gaurav, Meditation with Swami, Pranayama with the other Gaurav, Hatha with Raj and the extra Ayurveda classes with Arpit were among the lessons I loved the most. ( I did the meditation YTT)
The astrology consultation with Gaurav is divine, and the ayurvedic massage done by the lady who comes to the ashram is absolutely incredible.. truly the best massage I've ever had.
I'm sure that when I come back to Rishikesh, I will return here without a doubt.
P.S.: Before coming, I had read a negative review about the rooms, and it made me "afraid" for a moment. Now that I've experienced it myself, I can confidently say that it's simply not true.
The rooms are good and simple, some are a bit bigger or more modern than others, but all are perfectly fine. The mattresses are comfortable, and there is hot water; if it occasionally runs out, that's just how the Indian system works, not a fault of the ashram. And whenever any issue arises, they fix it immediately.
Thank you for everthings Sri Yoga Ashram ♡

I've just completed my 200-hour TTC in Kundalini, and I want to share from the deepest part of my heart that I HIGHLY recommend this ashram. It took me more than a month to make my decision, and after spending a full month here, I can say with complete certainty that anyone seeking a truly enriching spiritual experience should live this for themselves in this wonderful place.
Thank you, Eloiza, Gaurav, Dr. Gaurav, Arpit, Raj, the anatomy teacher, and Swami, for your incredible dedication, your passion, your wisdom, and your generosity in teaching. My experience went far beyond my expectations all thanks to each one of you. I genuinely didn't want it to end, and I will definitely come back.
The philosophy classes helped me understand yoga beyond the asanas; his teachings made everything clear, practical, and deeply inspiring.
Pranayama teacher and assistant were AMAZING! No words just respect and admiration!
All the subjects were incredible. If you're seeking Kundalini awakening, this is the right course for you. If you want something more dynamic, Ashtanga might fit better. But certainly you deep your knowledge in yoga in any of the courses they teach.
They even open the doors of their home to host you, which enriches the whole experience. You feel their love, respect, and the peaceful energy of the space. The food is delicious, clean, and prepared with so much love you genuinely don't need anything from outside. The chef, Depu (sorry if I misspelled it!), is a legend. Every meal felt nourishing.
The rooms are exactly as shown in the photos simple, clean, and aligned with the authentic Indian ashram lifestyle. This is not a hotel, so don't expect daily service, but if you're open to embracing the experience, you'll feel right at home. My room was spacious, with a comfortable bed, hot shower, wardrobe, mirror, and everything I needed. The sound of the stream next to the ashram made every night even more peaceful. I honestly didn't want to leave for a single second.
Location-wise, it's perfect: close to the Ganga, close to the main market street (don't bring too many clothes you'll want to shop!).
My advice: plan at least 3 to 5 extra days. There's so much to learn, absorb, and enjoy also.
Thank you so much, Sri Yoga Ashram. For the weekend excursions, for the generosity and flexibility! I loved every single person who works here! I highly, highly recommend this place. 🙏🙏🙏❤️🔥✨

I had a wonderful time at Sri yoga ashram. I would like to thank Rohit, Dr Gaurav and Arpit for the warm welcoming and the all stay in general.
There is a whole family living in the ashram and this was really an added value to see their life daily.
The day were busy with the amazing program I joined even for the 11 nights yoga retreat. From morning and evening yoga, pranayama and medication class but also anatomy and philosophy the program was just perfect.
We also had some outing and experiences such as going to see the sunrise on top of a mountain where there is also a nice temple. I can thank them enough for the whole experience.
The meals were delicious and fulfilling, our cook was very talented. Meals were different everyday and I gave a good opportunity to discover Indian home kitchen.
I can only think about coming back. As it is a very good value and experience I will never forget.
[Walkability field] The ashram is located just above the main road, this allows to not be disturbed by the horn of the car/bike. It is 5min walking from the main road with all the shops/cafe. It is surrounded by green/nature landscape. There is also a little river passing just beside and provide a nice and refreshing environment.

Yoga Nidra Course: I had the opportunity to take the Yoga Nidra training offered by Arpit. A truly powerful journey to the heart of oneself, an incredible tool. Arpit is very attentive and highly competent, a true Master? Don't hesitate!!!
From the first second meeting Pradeep at the reception, he was super kind and carefull.
The classes was very interesting, and the teachers are highly educated with lots of patient. Each question we asked, we received an relabel answer.
The Indian food are delicious made with care and attention by Pradeep the cooker and his team 😋😄
I highly recommend to participate if you feel ready to receive lots of traditional knowledge, and to schedule yourself into intensity of practice and study.
We participated(a couple) one month of 200 Kundalini and immediately after one more month of 300 Astanga yoga, and the knowledge we received was valid and add to the the experience of the 200 one without repetitions.
I use to teach yoga before I joined the training, and now the Yoga topic is much more clear to me with wider and stable roots.
Thank you so much

Hi! In April, I took their Hatha and Ashtanga yoga course in Rishikesh. I recently completed their online Yoga Nidra course. It was such a beautiful and enriching experience that I'm already planning to return! Beyond being excellent teachers, they are wonderful people. We were a small group, which made us feel like family!
The school is close to the mountains, far enough from the commercial area that you don't hear the constant traffic noise, which can become stressful, but at the same time close enough to walk. You can even go to the Ganges during the break between morning classes!

After years of dreaming of a kundalini yoga teacher training.
Should it finally be realized in Oct.2022. And oh what a beautiful experience it was to be able to follow my training at the Sri Yoga Ashram. Didn't regret this choice for a second.
I have experienced the family atmosphere in this ashram as very pleasant. The lessons were educational and when we finally left, we had gained a dose of knowledge. Also made friends for life.
The yoga, pranyama, Matra knowledge that I now propagate in the Netherlands is partly made possible by the training. Thanks again to Arpit, Gaurav, Ankur , Kartik and Pradeep and all the staff.
Note
This was my second time visiting India, and I am so glad I didn't listen to all those people who were judging India. Because none of this is based on truth. Of course there are places where it's all overwhelming. But Rishikesch is a quiet town with all amenities. If you have the idea to go... GO and follow the yoga training. It seems more like a promotion for India than for the Yoga Ashram, but it would be a shame if you let yourself be held back from things that are not relevant. Go and experience it for yourself. You will have no regrets.
Greetings, Yogi Monique Lankhorst Netherlands
I was blessed to have chosen this school for my Kundalini yoga teacher training. The timing for me was perfect, the location was great. It is next to a powerful and relaxing stream, where one immediately feels a sense of peace and rejuvenation. The group that formed with the girls from all over the world was so familiar and cozy that we all felt a natural sense of connection and a nice homey feeling. The food was really good, spicy at times of course, but we were in India after all :). Unknowingly I was there during one of the biggest festivals in India - Diwali, therefore we all had this amazing opportunity to be a part of the celebration. We bought or borrowed the Sarees and looked beautiful :). The family that runs the yoga center invited us for their family celebration, and it felt really heartwarming to be able to take part in it. Besides the lifelong friendships and loving connections and of course all the beautiful memories that I will take with me until the end (and even after)...there is another enormous attribute to this school...the loving, always smiling, welcoming and knowledgeable teachers. I am extremely grateful to them, to have had this incredible opportunity to learn from Ankur, Gaurav and Arpit you you beautiful souls.
P.S. The school is a family owned business, therefore one feels like finding a home away from home, if you know what I mean.
Blessings from Slovenia, Nina :)
About the Yoga Nidra online course! I usually don't like online courses very much. I feel that they tend to be impersonal and don't create the same bond. However, in this case, as I already knew the teachers, and I enjoyed the face-to-face training so much, I decided to give it a try. And I have to say that I will repeat! There were 6 live sessions, with all the flexibility in terms of schedule to adapt it to the availability of each one. In each session there is a theoretical part and a practical part, with time to resolve doubts and concerns. They care about knowing your experience of the practice and help you to integrate it. All classes are recorded, so you can repeat them!
It was a great experience for me to do this 200hr yoga teacher and astrology course. All the teachers really know what they talking about, so you can only learn more about yourself if you listen closely . The food was amazing and all the staff members are beautiful people.
It seems like Rishikesh is a very special place, surrounded by Mountains, with unique colors and smells. When it is night and you go to bed, you can listen how mother Ganges flows and follow her. Thanks to all the People that live in this Ashram ! Namaste 🙏
I was truly welcomed and felt like part of the family.
It's a yoga atmosphere, but away from the impersonal atmosphere of large centers.
Here, everything is personalized: the food, the posture classes, and even the philosophy sessions.
What I also loved were the discussions about the philosophy of yoga, and therefore about life, with Gaurav, an eminent professor of philosophy and astrology.
I visit him every time I'm in town.
Sri Yoga Ashram is a place that has forever held a special place in my heart. The incredibly positive energy of all the teachers, who share their knowledge so generously and so gently, is incredible. The cuisine is wonderful, and the chef prepares food with love. Only the kindest, most positive people come here, seeking inspiration, knowledge, and peace, wanting to expand their consciousness, and open their hearts to love and happiness!
I studied astrology here, fell madly in love with the yoga classes, and now my life has changed forever. When you gain such valuable knowledge, you simply cannot afford not to use it. The teachers truly love everything they do and do it in the best possible way!
The conditions are beyond comfortable, very clean and well-maintained, the rooms are equipped with everything you need, and clean drinking water is always available.
The class schedule is busy, but I enjoyed attending all the classes and didn't want to miss a single one.
But the most important thing is the atmosphere; it's unique and unmatched because it's imbued with love for what these wonderful people do.
If you want to learn a new skill, like being a yoga teacher or an astrologer, or just relax on a retreat, come here.
Thank you for a wonderful month with you! 🙏🙏🙏
I was referred to Sri Yoga Ashram to mainly do the Astrology part of the course, and ended up also doing the 200 hour Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training as well. The food is great, the location is great, the people are great, my room was as expected, and based on my expectations it is hard to find a fault. However it is the quality of the teaching that I found the most impressive. I learned a lot and walked away with far more knowledge than I could have imagined in only 4 weeks. If I get a chance again, I will choose to come back here without hesitation.
What can I said about Sri Yoga Ashram in a simple opinion? It is a difficult to put words on it. First day I felt a little bit deceived when I saw that is not a school "specialized in Kundalini yoga", that it was more a kind of a school that was not "totally" organized at all, that the school was "a mix of everything" that the schedules were not "totally fixed" as I read in the website or whatever.. many expectations that even I didn't knew I had!!
I didn't know that all those things were actually a great advantage for me.
I already had a "Hatha yoga teacher training " in Spain. So, I thought I knew more or less what yoga was. The truth is that they surprised me every single day. Every teacher knows very well about the subjects they teach, and they make everything what is in their hands to reorganized if is necessary for the students to get the classes even almost personalized!! Gaurav thoughts us Philosophy in a such psychological manner that in Western countries is very difficult to find yoga teachers who really knows what the scriptures means. Arpit was very flexible in our petitions and is the best teacher in Hatha and alignments that I have ever had. Satish is very powerful and at the same time so lovely in his Asthanga classes. (Finally I have changed Kundalini by Ashtanga)
I went to Sri Yoga Ashram because I wanted to get a deeper understanding about pranayama and our pranayama teacher was very methodical, very corrective during our practices and at the same super empathetic with all of us.
I think it is very difficult to find so great teachers in just one school.
I want also to thanks to the cook, we were eating so healthy, delicious and balanced.
And Bikas, better do not to take him so serious :))) you can just laugh with no limits with him. He also was a great company during our breaks and always ready to help us with anything!! I really appreciate all of you. I hope to see you again.
I have learned more than yoga. I have get inspired by the way they are doing the things in that school.
Wow, in one word: amazing!
If you are ever in doubt doing a YTT, do it and do it here!
It's a family owned ashram and they make you feel like home immediately when you arrive. They treat you like one of their family members. If you have any concerns or questions, Dr. Gaurav will always be there to help you out. Unfortunately I've got sick during my training but everyone was there for me to help. They even brought me fresh coconuts a day to keep me hydrated, how helpful and caring!
The rooms are basic and Indian standard but good. Your own bathroom and everything you need (Just bring your own mosquito net).
The food is daily fresh cooked, clean, vegetarian, healthy, delicious and different every day. It's hard to eat not too much because it's so tasty!
The groups are small so you will get a lot of attention, care and adjustments. Very unique. There is a good vibe, good energy.
The teachers were all very professional and well-knowledged. I have learned so much during this course, it's life changing. Thank you to Dr. Gaurav Ji for all the informative and interesting philosophy classes, Arpit Ji for the powerful Hatha and good Teaching Methodology classes, Anant Ji for the most fun and interesting Anatomy classes ever, Kalpendra Ji for the very relaxing and supportive pranayama and meditation classes, and last but not least: Satish Ji for the best and most inspiring amazing Ashtanga Vinyassa classes ever! I love it all so much!
I really miss being around my Rishikesh family but hopefully I can come back soon! Namaste 🙏
A family-run, personable and caring yoga school. Class sizes are small and teachers are hands-on, taking the time to get to know their students and giving instruction in a wonderfully comprehensible yet dynamic manner. The Hatha with Arpit is stimulating and energetic, and the evening Ashtanga is the most deliciously challenging yoga I've ever done. Routines can be difficult for some people, especially one so intense, but the teachers show up everyday with a consistent energy that keeps us engaged, curious and motivated.
The location is also unbeatable, sitting on a hill just off the main road with panoramic views of rhetoric jungle, a stream, and Ganga. The food is delicious and gentle on Western stomachs.
I've grown so much in their care: as a yoga practitioner, a teacher, and overall person. There are many schools in Rishikesh to choose from, but this one is surely one of the best. Come here if you want authenticity in yoga blended with real-life.
I do my teacher training in kundalini yoga. And i also learn astrology. The teachers here are the best, you can't find this quality everywhere. You feel directly like home. Every teacher take care of us and it's always based on love energy. It was amazing and i recommend this place! My kundalini teacher training was complete, thank's to Arpit for his knowledge and Nishi for her dynamism. Gaurav was my teacher in phylosophy and astrology, he teach very good and he have always good stories to tell. We had an excellent pranayama teacher... well, everything was perfect. I will never forget this place and this incredible moment in Sri Yoga Ashram.
Family run yoga, astrology, and palmstry place. I Loved it! They make you apart of their family. Was here during Diwali and they shared sweets, worship, and traditions with us. Never do you feel unwelcome. The quality of the knowlege they have is top notch. Gaurav teaches you in such a profound way. He helps put eveeything in terms that you can easily catch the knowlege. Arpit has so much understanding of yoga. I did a yoga training in Spain and gained alot there, but came here for yoga therapy and learned even more than I thought I could. The cook is amazing! I love him. Truly cooks with nothing but love, ask him to make the veg wraps...oh my gosh good!! Its well worth it to take any program here. You will leave with more than you expected.
I had a very great time in this Ashram!
During my 200h Kundalini Yoga Teacher training course, I learned very useful skills and after it, I feel completely ready to put this knowledge into self practice and start sharing it to others with conference. All the teachers have a super high level and the atmosphere in general was very familiar, they will help you in whatever you need!
I am very happy and feel I did a great choice!
The month I spent with Sri Yoga Ashram was a beautifully challenging experience. The daily schedule was thorough in bringing us practices of hatha, ashtanga, pranayama, yoga nidra, philosophy, and anatomy. The instructors were kind in the way they presented information and the lessons were enjoyable.
It's been my 4th week of the 200 hours Yoga Teacher Training at Sri Yaga Ashram, one of the traditional yoga schools in Rishikesh. My experience of studying yoga in this old fashioned school has been beyond and above my expectation, no words can describe! The teaching staff who are loving and caring equipped with the wealth of knowledge and fine skills in teaching.
We start with Hatha yoga practice at the sunrise and finish off the day with Ashtanga Vinyasa practice at the sunset in Sri Yoga Hall surrounded with natural beauty trees, birds, mountains and river views. All the asanas we've learned were demonstrated and explained in depth of what the muscles and joints are engaged with when performing the asana or associated with the movement. During the day we have practical classes pranayama breathing techniques, meditation, cleasening process, mantra, chanting and lectures Anatomy, Teaching Methodology and Yoga Philosophy. The lectures have never been boring as teachers are so passionate about sharing the yoga knowledge, wisdom and offer the insights. Philosophy has been one of my favourite classes taken by Dr Gaurav. Dr Gaurav is well known for his expertise in Philosophy, Psychology, Astrology, Palmistry and Counciling. His teaching is focused on Patanjali's Yoga Sutra throughout the lecture sessions without tedious text by text translation. Some of the fascinating topics that have been covered are What is yoga, Who we are, Karma etc as well as the common confusions and modern society dilemmas everyone faces such as Love, Pleasure and Happiness. I recommend Sri Yoga Ashram to those open minded wish to live the life in yoga come right over here at the bank of Holy Ganga and the foot of majestic Himalayas to experience and explore to see what life can offer!
